Terms explained
Domain terms as they're used across the platform. Each row gives the plain meaning first, then the precise one — both matter, because the exact wording shows up in URLs, error messages, and support tickets.
| Term | What it means | Where it shows up |
|---|---|---|
| Client | An account holder on the platform. | The top level of every report and every admin screen. |
| Ad Account ≡ Source | A single advertising account on one platform — a Meta ad account, a Google Ads account, and so on. One client can have several. | The level directly under Client in every report. |
| Hierarchy | The reporting drill order is Client → Ad Account → Campaign → Ad Set → Ad → Creative. A view may begin below Client or omit levels that are not applicable. | Reporting drill and grouping controls. |
| PaidAcquisitionRow | The one shared row shape every platform's spend and performance data gets converted into before it's stored. | Internal — engineers reading the ingestion code. |
| event_id | A generated 12-part identity built from client, platform, date, campaign, ad set, ad, creative, and segment dimensions. It supports idempotent latest-state ingestion. | Internal — engineers reading the ingestion code. |
| Rollup | A derived daily summary built from maintained facts/views rather than entered by a user. | Reporting query paths that use a rollup. |
| Marketing scope | The server-resolved client and account boundary applied to a report query. Browser reports use resolveQueryScope() alongside the selected MarketingFilter. | Marketing Route Handlers and reporting queries. |
| Managed campaigns | Campaigns the agency runs in an ad account, recognised by campaign name prefix. Reports count only these unless an administrator chooses "Show all". | The "Only ODMG campaigns" label on the report. See Views and breakdowns. |
| Effective Status | Whether a campaign, ad set, or ad would actually serve if it were turned on, with every blocker listed. | Status columns. See Status, switches, and budgets. |
| Spend Guard | A per-ad-account safety rule: a Slack alert when spend speeds up, and an optional hard daily cap that pauses campaigns. | Spend Guards. |
| Tabs View | The report view that shows one table per level (Campaigns, Ad Sets, Ads). | The view toggle on the Paid Acquisition Report. |
| Review Queue | The screen where creative assets that failed an automated check wait for a person to approve or reject them. | Review Queue. |
| QC Check | One automated check run against a creative asset — caption presence, quality score, required fields, compliance, or landing-page match. | Feeds the Review Queue. |
| Handoff period | The transition window after go-live when the receiving team learns the platform hands-on before taking full ownership. | Referenced on Access & Transfer. |
Anti-drift rule
Use existing source terminology where it exists. Add user-facing domain terms here when they need a shared explanation; application types and maintained source contracts remain authoritative.
